The information is used for two reasons: To provide a way to locate you if GPS is unavailable, and to more quickly locate a GPS signal when one is around. That information is crucial for maps and many other smartphone apps.

is there any way i could get the tracking information from my iphone to tell me where i was over a few months to do with a hearing as i dont have any paper work to back me up and this could be a life saver regarding my job, As it could jog my memory .Pete and Alasdair have eplained it well but i dont know if its possible to do or take it somewhere It could help fight my case. i dont know anything about computers , jesssar111
