The fact of the matter is, the product is not flawed, some of the operators in the industry are, but the product is not. To say that would be to say that guns kill people when we know that people kill people. That pencils cause misspelled words or that matches cause arson, we know that people are to blame, not the things. We each have to been responsible for our own actions.

That is the problem with the USA today, we always want to blame someone else.

We have offered financial literacy (some from Dave Ramsey) since the day we opened. We use more than 10% of our profits as charitable contributions to our local church and to sponsor (13) children around the world thru “Compassion International”.

Thanks for the compliment! You seem like a reasonable person also and I enjoy the exchange of ideas with folks like you ;)

I think both of those verses are great and partially apply.

Our concept has always been responsible underwriting to people that want to use our service responsibly. Not many businesses serve this specialty demographic. We work hard to treat people that need our help when no one else will help them with dignity and respect.

Debt servitude inflicts misery on individuals & families. Growing up, my family went bankrupt twice from mortgages & credit cards. Yes, they screwed up. But they were normal people. Simple. Trusting. It was devastating to my father’s personality & the family fell apart.

This isn’t a poor-Wade story. This is happening as we speak to thousands. Bankruptcy devastates the soul. Somehow, we’ve come to believe that wall st is more important than people.

We shouldn’t do this to each other.

HometownCAgregf2: You actually seem like a nice guy & thoughtful. Esp. considering my initial tone. You seem to really want to understand where I’m coming from, & I appreciate that.

Please google “What Does The Bible Say About Money?” and the first link is Dave Ramsey. He lists the relevant quotes, and explains them better than me.

Proverbs 22:7 states that “The rich rule over the poor, And the borrower is servant to the lender.”

Matt. 6:24 “You cannot serve both God and money”.

Where in your equation does personal choice/accountability factor in?

You have even misused the term “Predatory Lending”…look it up, it does not fit here?

Alright, last point….I am a Christian and I would like to know both the verse and context you are referring to when you say the Bible forbids this. Remember, if you are going to use a verse, please explain the context also.

Good luck!!

Usury: an exorbitant or unlawful rate of interest…by definition, the rates are not Usury. They are legally charged per state legislation and exorbitant is a subjective term. If you look at the actual costs involved in providing these loans, the rates are reasonable and in line with what the market bears. How do you defend this claim?

How is the practice deceptive? The terms are all disclosed both on the individual agreement and on signage within the office.

False advertising? Fraud?….How?

Deceptive practices? False advertising? Fraud?

At the end of the day, USURY is immoral/illegal in this world, even if the state of CA hasn’t outlawed it yet. Even the Bible forbids it. And the misery created by these predatory loans is every bit as devastating as the drug trade. Debt tears families apart.

Why in jail?

All PayDay Lenders should be in jail. Avoid them like the plague.
